Sweet Potato Chips, a fever, and a tired Mommy

This morning, when I went to get the babies from their room, I noticed William was very hot. I picked him up, brought him down stairs, took his temp, and sure enough - he was running a fever. After giving him some motrin, I made eggs, bacon, and waffles for breakfast (thinking sure he would eat SOMETHING out of a meal with all his favorite things). Of course he cried, latched on to me tighter, and even refused food when I tried to hand feed him.

After carting him around (that boy is heavy!) for about 45 min, I think the motrin started to take affect, and he felt up to walking a bit (of course always in arms reach of me). I asked him about an hour after I put him down if he wanted me to make him some sweet potato chips.

This is the reaction I received

Of course, it was fairly obvious that it was time to break out the peeler, sweet potatoes, and the mandolin and get to work. As I was at the end of my sweet potato on the mandolin, I cut off a sliver of the skin on my pinkie finger. Needless to say, I ruined a whole batch of potatoes by spilling blood all over them from such a tiny cut.

William was in hysterics when he saw me dump that whole tray of blood stained raw chips in the trash. With William screaming, blood rushing out of my finger, and Charlotte crying to watch a show on the computer - I felt my insides wanting to scream.

Taking a few deep breaths, and getting to a "happy place" in my head, I finished washing off my finger and wrapping it up, sanitizing the counter, and started to peel and chop away... again.

Finally...

After much hard work, I had successfully completed a batch of sweet potato chips for their snack before bed.

It was the only thing that William would eat, and he ate just about the whole entire batch.

Thinking, "yes, nap time!" was apparently getting way ahead of myself. William refused to lay down, but was completely content laying on my chest while I lay in the barker lounger. At one point I had to use the restroom so bad, I had to get up (with him), walk over to the bathroom, and attempt to put him down so I could take care of business. He hung on to my shirt, and kept grasping for my shoulders while screaming in protest. I had to find a way to take care of my business with him clung on to me. After we returned to lay down, I was able to lay and snuggle with my little man for almost two hours before going to get Charlotte.

When it was time to get Charlotte, we grabbed a bag of pecans to bring upstairs with us for a afternoon snack. I figured if I brought the snack up into their room, then I could close the door, lay on the floor, finally let my knee rest and keep it stretched while the babies could play.

I have to say, that it was one of the best ideas I had thought of all day. They sat and ate and played and played with their blocks and balls.

When Jordan returned home from school he came up stairs, and joined us in the room. Punkin was not at the door as usual because he was in the babies room with us, but remained waiting by the bedroom door for Jordan to enter.

Jordan even sat down with the babies and played and played.

After playtime, we had dinner, read about four different books, and thought that it was finally off to bed.

Of course..... that was not the case.

Charlotte pooped.
Charlotte took off her diaper.
Charlotte decided to sit with her butt nakedness all over her, and Williams bed, not to mention somehow getting some of her "yukies" all over the wall by their table and chairs.

I swore this day would never end, and am still unsure if it has ended yet.

To make matters sadder, I still have not heard anything from my dear and sweet husband.
