We do with-out it happily.

Lately when people come over, they ask "where is your TV?", and are completely baffled when we tell them that we don't own one. We have been with out a television now for years, and we don't miss it one bit. About four years ago we decided to become a television free family, and we have loved it ever since. It's amazing how much you find to do around the house or outside with your family when your not sitting in front of the television. A couple of weeks ago, Jordan went with Chase to work. Chase has a big screen TV in his office, so he put on cartoon network for Jordan to watch. As Jordan was watching his Scooby Doo, a commercial came on for hot wheels. Jordan was very disturbed at first exclaiming, " dad, what happened to Scooby Doo? I don't want to watch this hot wheels show!" Chase explained to him that it was a commercial that advertised things you can buy in stores, and do you know what the first thing out of his mouth was after?

"Wow, I want that!"

It is amazing to me that we live in such a consumerism world. Even the kids get sucked into it. We went out and bought Jordan a Berenstain Bears book called "commercials". I highly recommend this book for children (even more so if you own a television). It talks about the importance of not running out and buying every thing you see on TV.
We enjoy our quiet commercial free life, and love that our children are not playing video games and watching things that are inappropriate for their age. There are so many cartoons out there that are meant for adults and not meant for children.

Do we miss our TV? - no
