Frugal Activities for your kids

"Breakfast in the Rain"

It was raining this morning, and all through our house you could hear the sound of dozens of birds playing in its wetness. I thought it would be fun for the wee ones to eat their morning meal outside (under cover of course) with the entertainment and sounds of nature. The loved it.

For Breakfast we had a thin toasted sandwich of butter and jam cut in fourths with a side of banana, and some delicious acai juice for complements.

Frugal Activities for your kids

Fun with Water Color Pencils

One great way we love to pass the time in our home is to play with water colors. Here, I used water color pencils, drew a picture, and let Charlotte paint over the lines with a paint brush dipped in water. She loves this so much, and I don't have to worry about a huge mess.

It also serves well for us when teaching her nursery rhymes. She learns, paints, and sings. (Half is still in her language all her own, but she knows exactly what she is saying) I recommend you give this a try. It is a fun, clean way to interact with your wee ones.

Frugal Activities for your kids

Carpet Skating

One of the many things we do in our household for fun is "Carpet Skating". We remove all potential hazards from around or on a carpeted surface, and skate until we are so exsausted, we fall on the couch. This activity is so much fun, and such a wonderful time killer. My Children love it!

What you need to do:

-Find a nice size area of carpet, and remove any potental hazards.
-Have your child put on shoes (and you too).
- Find some rope or I use a hair band. (if you have some scrunchies lying around, those are wonderful to use.)
- Cover each child's foot/shoes with wax paper and secure at the ankle. If you use two sheets of wax paper, it becomes more slippery.
- Skate away!

note: For your toddlers first time carpet skating, make sure you stay close by them ready to catch them in a fall until they get the hang of it.
